And suddenly it’s May already. Like it says on the label, the nominations have been finalised and the voting has opened for the Charles S. Roberts Awards for 2024*.
There are maybe two dozen wargame- or conflict
simulation-specific awards around the globe**. I’ve shared some thoughts on the
Charlies in the past, so I’m not going to get into the value of these here, but
I would encourage anyone who cares to, to go to the link above (here's the link again in case you missed it) and put a vote in for at least the categories you’re interested in or
care about. You don’t have to vote for every category, but you can only vote
once. Well, technically, being a Google Form, I think you can vote multiple
times, but these will be checked and subsequent votes cancelled.
You have the calendar month of May to get your votes in. I’m planning on writing a proper post about the nominees, providing BGG links to each, and maybe a second post about the games that didn’t make the cut. There are always disappointments in these things, but all in all, there are some strong contenders this year. And I can't fault a single nomination in the "Personality" nominations either.
Let me know what you think of the nominations in the comments. Now go vote.
One of the WW1 Nominees, Aces High was not published in 2024. See https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/alephgamestudio/aces-high/posts
ReplyDeleteThanks for bringing this up, I'm not affiliated with the Charles S, Roberts Awards, but I'll bring this to the attention of some folks who are. when I hear back, I'll post about it on A Fast Game. Stay tuned.
DeleteThe owner of Aleph just posted in the CSR Facebook group that he is mystified why their game was nominated.
